It’s Monday? Where’d the weekend go?

I’ll tell you where it went…..to pieces. It was picked up by a tornado called “My Parents” and tossed around like a rag doll. I’ll try to lay some of the scraps out for you. I was able to rescue a few moments with things you should be aware of.

Friday night: I was playing Peekaboo with a STRANGER while waiting in line at a department store my mommy and daddy took me too.

BE AWARE: I play games and interact with the human race.

FRIDAY

Saturday: That was a pretty big day for me. It was our Fall Festival parade and I was on a float for Special Olympics. I’m in the back sitting on mommy’s lap.

BE AWARE: I’m an athlete.

I’ll be a Young Athlete for Special Olympics until I’m eight-years-old. Then…..I can compete in stuff.

LOOK! We have a big torch and everything.

Float

I didn’t think we should throw candy without testing it first.

BE AWARE: I care about public safety.

Lollipop

BE AWARE: I learn stuff.

Sunday: Mommy drew a circle on the left. She did okay, but a little messy.

My circle is on the right. I think mine is just as good. I even added some extra stuff just because.

SUNDAY

Today (PreK/Day 21): Here I am this morning, checking the safety of the tunnel before my train goes through.

BE AWARE: I can get away with not wearing a shirt.

Day 20 Train

Now…..I am getting ready for school. I was pretty late (1.5 hours).

Someone, this friend I know…….Yeah that’s it, woke me up a few times during the night. They made me jump around, throw stuff out of my crib and kick the rails. This happened a few times. Mommy let me sleep in.

BE AWARE: I try to figure things out for myself, like putting on my “special shoes”. OR….Playing with the Velcro straps because it’s cool to do that.

Day 20 Shoe

Be Aware: I’m a regular dude (PreK Day:16)

Just like a regular dude:

I like to rock out on instruments.

And……Just like a regular dude, I think I sound better than I really do.

Day 16 with Snake 015

Just like a regular dude:

I sometimes play with tools.

And…….Just like a regular dude, I sometimes put my fingers where they don’t belong.

Day 16 with Snake 007

Be aware. Be very aware. (PreK: Day 14)

October is National Down Syndrome Awareness Month.

To bring awareness, I’m gonna share something everyday that you may or may not know already. Don’t worry though……You can still stalk me at preschool. Scratch that. You can stalk my adventures on this blog. Stalking in real life will get you arrested you big dopey! And….That would be the nicer option.

This is me at about 6:30 this morning. Even in the most coffee necessary timeframe for most Americans, I am up and using technology. Okay. I might not have pants on, but I’m guessing a lot of people weren’t wearing any at that time either.

iPad

BE AWARE:

I can use an iPad just as well, if not better than any kid my age. I don’t lick it. I don’t try to eat it and I don’t throw it. It’s not like I’m an animal. I’m a responsible human being, who understands it’s a privilege to have electronics. AND……My family understands that keeping their limbs intact is a privilege they will quickly lose if they mess with my iPad privileges.

Preschool: Day 2

This was actually yesterday, but my mom is getting kind of up there in age, so it’s taking her a bit of time to get on the ball. Plus, she’s posting this late because my sister tried to grab all my thunder. She had a softball incident today and broke her finger. I break stuff all the time and keep moving on in life. I break toys, cups and even wind. You don’t see me whining about it. GIRLS! They just want all the attention.

(Anyway: Let’s get back to my day.)

Holy macaroni! This backpack is the size of me if I was doubled over.

Justice 2nd Day School 001

Seriously guys. You couldn’t have found a bigger backpack for me?

I mean really. It only comes up to my waist.

Justice 2nd Day School 003

Don’t worry.

I’ll suck it up because I’m a machine.

Justice 2nd Day School 005

Oh my gosh sister!

Do you ever let me have a moment to myself?

How much attention do you need? Out of my shot!

Justice 2nd Day School 009

I’ll have to give her this or she will never leave me alone.

I bet this was the moment she started planning her finger break thingy.

Just can’t let me shine. She had to put powder on it.

Buddy Walk with me.

841179_424225497652670_1188401339_o[1]

I’m Justice and I’m four months shy of the Big Three. That’s years if you weren’t sure. Let me tell you what’s going on here. My family is coming with me and participating in the Buddy Walk (for Down Syndrome) in Northern Virginia this September. Are you ready to hear our team name? We are the “Justice League”. Yep. I think that’s a pretty cool name my mommy’s friend picked.

Here is the 411 if any of you still use that nowadays.

I’m walking with my family in the Northern Virginia Buddy Walk, to show my support for the more than 350,000 individuals with Down syndrome in the United States. I want to do my part to make sure that each individual is given every opportunity to reach their full potential.

Every step I take, every dollar I raise will help ensure that each individual with Down syndrome in the United States will be able to do just that. Last year alone, over $11.75 million dollars were raised nation-wide for local and national programs.

Your involvement in the Buddy Walk — by walking with me or by sponsoring me — will make steps for a brighter tomorrow for all individuals with Down syndrome.

Thank you for supporting me — and all individuals with Down syndrome.

Ignoring the need to give? Well…”Ain’t nobody got time for that.” I’m Just-Ice, and I approve this message.

My Magnificent Milestones

Milestones are big news for kids, but especially kids with a disability. I don’t know why? It’s not like we are bionic or science experiments, but how cool would being bionic be? Too cool!

Anyway……I just started walking, but I’m pretty good at it. I feed myself with some mess and I’m deciding if I want to start talking or not. Basically, I’m the mysterious, hot dude outside the lunch room wearing a leather jacket. I’ll do what I want, when I want. NO peer pressure for me.

But…..I do have some stuff I’m pretty proud of that I want to share with you. I’m only 28 months old and I’m not trying to make anyone jealous, so I am sorry if I do.

I CAN…..

dance on my back, on a bed, while laughing

Break dance on bed

determine if I look fat in my clothes without anyone’s help

Do i look fat

drink from a big cup that has flowers on it … I’m secure in my manhood.

Drink from straw

flush the toilet … I don’t use it yet, but I’m light-years ahead of kids 2-20 times my age on the flushing part.

Flush potty

create mathematically and architecturally amazing stool forts

Fort

use a flashlight to irritate the dog and entertain myself

MOrse Code

point the finger at the guilty party … The blame game is a true childhood milestone that some never outgrow.

Point the finger

put the toilet paper back after ripping it out … It’s called redemption.

Put toilet paper back

do the sidewinder grin, which is quite challenging … It’s actually the first step in learning ventriloquism.

Side smile sneer

use Cheetos to become a Sabertooth tiger

Tiger Cheetos

show my guns off for the ladies … We all know that is the most impressive milestone of them all.

Who’s the saint? I AM!

Yeah, yeah, yeah…..In the beginning I heard a lot of nonsense about my parents being saints and how wonderful my siblings were to me. Blah, blah, blah I say (…or would say).

Let me tell you something people. I’m the saint. I’m the best thing that every happened to those poor souls. My family is crazy, loud and all kinds of….did I say crazy?

Before I was even born, I was stressed out by the nonsense I heard.

Proof:” I can’t believe I’m going to have to deal with this. Can I stay in here a little longer? Like forever?”

Justice Sonogram

This one here. I can’t understand half the things that come out of his mouth.

I’ve learned to pretend to be asleep when I’m around him.

Brother #2 cant read a story with enthusiasm to save his life.

I’m constantly reminding him to stay in character. How infuriating!!!

561651_3975851118992_1979301113_n[1]

And this girl……Well she is a real problem.

Every time my “real” mom turns around, she steps in to be Mommy at Large.

Her hugs are lethal. Do my cries for help fall on deaf ears?

NOW…….This is what happens when your siblings find out you’re talking trash (truth) about them.

Mom and Dad just say: “Kids will be kids.”
